The MPS-List prohibited active substances is part of the MPS-ABC certification standard. This list aims to reduce the use of substances that are harmful to humans and the environment, thus contributing to a more sustainable ornamental horticulture sector. With this message, we would like to draw your attention to two matters regarding the MPS-List prohibited active substances.

Last year we informed you that fifteen new prohibited active substances were being added to the MPS-List prohibited active substances as of 22 April 2024 (P5 2024). This means that as of this date, you will be audited against the most recent version of the list. The substances are as follows:

  •          Beta-cyfluthrin
  •          Cadusafos
  •          Clothianidin
  •          Cyfluthrin
  •          Fenamiphos
  •          Imidacloprid
  •          Isoxathion
  •          Methidathion
  •          Methiocarb
  •          Methomyl
  •          Omethoate
  •          Thiacloprid
  •          Thiamethoxam
  •          Warfarin
  •          Zeta-cypermethrin

In addition, the following substances will be added to the MPS-List prohibited active substances as of P5 2025. These substances are being added to the list because they appear on at least two of the following lists:

  1. POP:     The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants
  2. PIC:      The Rotterdam Convention on Prior Informed Consent
  3. PAN:    Dirty Dozen
  4. EPA:     Banned or Severely Restricted Pesticides
  5. EU:       Pesticide Database Non-Approved Pesticides
  6. WHO:   Class Ia and Ib lists

The substances are as follows:
