The MPS-List prohibited active substances is part of the MPS-ABC and the MPS-Compact certification standard. This list aims to reduce the use of substances that are harmful to humans and the environment, thus contributing to a more sustainable ornamental horticulture sector. With this message, we would like to draw your attention to three matters regarding the MPS-List prohibited active substances.

Addition of active substances per P5 2026
Last year we informed you that four new prohibited active substances were being added to the MPS-List prohibited active substances as of 20 April 2026 (P5 2026). This means that as of this date, you will be audited against the most recent version of the list. As of period P5 2026, these substances can be identified in the MPS record-keeping environment by a black dot when a product containing these active substances is recorded. The substances are as follows:

  • tributyltin oxide
  • dimoxystrobin
  • ipconazole
  • methoxychlor

Addition of active substances per P5 2027
In addition, the following substances will be added to the MPS-List prohibited active substances as of P5 2027. These substances are being added to the list because they appear on at least two of the following lists:

  1. POP: The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants
  2. PIC: The Rotterdam Convention on Prior Informed Consent
  3. PAN: Dirty Dozen
  4. EPA: Banned or Severely Restricted Pesticides
  5. EU: Pesticide Database Non-Approved Pesticides
  6. WHO: Class Ia and Ib lists

The substances are as follows:

Removal of active substances
Following newly obtained insights, the substances listed below are removed from the MPS-List of prohibited active substances. As a result, these substances may be used again, unless the laws and regulations of the country in which your company is established prescribe otherwise:

  • brodifacoum
  • bromadiolone
  • coumatetralyl
  • difenacoum
  • difethialone
  • flocoumafen
