MPS-ECAS conducts independent audits and issues certificates tailored to the horticultural sector at all levels of the supply chain. MPS Insights: Logging usage without certification or audits

MPS has been helping growers achieve greater sustainability for almost 30 years. We are the market leaders in providing insights into sustainability efforts for the ornamentals sector with the MPS-ABC certificate. MPS-Insights allows you to log your usage and obtain the same insight into your environmental performance but without audits or certification.

Maximise sustainability impact with the HortiFootprint Calculator

The HortiFootprint Calculator, developed by MPS and LetsGrow.com, is an innovative tool that helps you measure the environmental impact of your production. The software tool is based on the FloriPEFCR, an internationally agreed method for calculating the environmental footprint of horticultural products. This FloriPEFCR standard is a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) that includes 16 impact categories (such as carbon footprint, land use, and the use of natural resources) and covers the entire life cycle of ornamental and vegetable production, up to the final product. MPS’s flagship product: MPS-ABC

MPS-ABC is more than just a certificate. It is a management tool that helps companies take action to reduce their environmental footprint. By recording their consumption, real-time measurements allow for determining the sustainability of production. This leads to more responsible resource usage and enables producers to use their data to continuously improve the sustainability of their practices.

How does it work?
Companies record each of their crop protection product and fertilizer uses in the MPS registration tool. Additionally, they record their energy and water consumption, waste management practices, and the origin of their young plants (where, when, and how many).
Points are awarded for each category of inputs. Based on the total points accumulated, the company receives an MPS qualification of A+, A, B, or C, with A+ being the highest possible qualification. A total of 110 points can be earned. After 13 consecutive data recording periods (four quarters), the records are verified through a field audit, and an independent certifying body issues the certificate. This certificate is accompanied by the first MPS-ABC qualification, which is then recalculated every quarter.
